YOUR HOSTS

Gordon and Leah Gallagher purchased the Irish Rose Bed & Breakfast (formerly the Lazy Bear B&B) in December, 2006. They hail from Kentucky, southern Indiana and Colorado where for seven years they resided in the Front Range of the Rockies, west of Boulder, Colorado. They believe they have found the perfect small community to live in and to operate their bed and breakfast. Frequent guests at bed & breakfasts throughout the Country, they have long thought of running their own B&B incorporating the best practices and amenities that they observed.

Gordon, originally from Cincinnati, made his home in Louisville, Kentucky where he practiced law for over thirty years. He was educated at the University of Cincinnati, University of Louisville and Miami University, Florida. He worked in Yellowstone Park in the early 1960s while in college and has had a yearning to settle in Yellowstone Country ever since. Now semi-retired from his law practice, he is fulfilling a dream with Gallagher’s Irish Rose Bed & Breakfast.

Leah is originally from southern Indiana where she grew up on a farm.  She knew from the first time she held a paint brush at age 6 that she wanted to be an artist and paint the ever-changing land and animals that were part of her life.  After an earlier life as a farm wife, mother, gardener, seamstress and china painter, she went back to Indiana University and completed her B.A. in Fine Arts at age 38.  Leah and Gordon met in 1996 and were married 14 months later.  For several years they traveled too much for Leah to complete much artwork.  She has enjoyed settling into her new studio where she can turn all those reference photos and field sketches into finished pieces.  To be able to live and paint at the Gateway to Yellowstone is a dream come true.
